Historical Race: Unique event combines local landmarks, fitness
The inaugural Total Balance Vinton Historical Chase will take place at 8 a.m. this Saturday, Nov. 21.
Beginning at Total Balance on 4th Street, participants will run, walk or bike to a variety of local landmarks, where they will find both fitness challenges and questions about local history. After successfully completing those challenges, they can then advance to the next site.
VS Bowling fund-raiser set for Nov. 21
Come Join the Vinton Shellsburg Bowling Team for fun and help raise money for our 3rd Season. All proceeds go directly to the Bowling Team.
Details: The 3RD ANNUAL 9-Pin Family and Friends Community Tournament will take place at Berry’s Lanes Saturday, November 21st. Lane times are 2:00 pm or 5:00 pm (Pick One). Awards will be given to the top 3 scores and Best Effort in each Division (18+, 11-17, 10 and under).

Coloring books for all ages and levels, plus an assortmento f coloring pencils and markers.
Sunday November 22, from noon until 4 p.m., you can get your supplies at Henkle Creek thru Barnes and Noble Booksellers. There will be a large selection on hand for purchase.
Online sales are going to be held from the 23rd thru the 28th.
Tour de Lites set for Dec. 6
The 11th Annual Vinton-Shellsburg Tour De Lites 5K will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Vinton Fire Station.

VS Veterans Day ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday
The Vinton-Shellsburg school district invites all veterans to attend theannual community- and district-wide Veterans' Day Assembly, November 11. The assembly begins at 9:30 a.m. at Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School. We will be serving breakfast to our veterans beginning at 8:30 in the middle school cafeteria, so please feel free to join us. Our student senate, student body, and staff work hard to honor those who have bravely served our country.

American Legion and area Scouts to conduct Flag Disposal Ceremony November 9
The Vinton American Legion, the Boys Scouts and Cub Scouts will be conducting a Flag Disposal Ceremony Monday November 9 at 6:30 PM, weather permitting, all are welcome to attend. If you have a flag that needs to be disposed of, now would be a good time to drop it off at the American Legion Hall, 105 North R Ave. There is a can outside the front door for this purpose.
VPRD Craft and Bake Sale
Saturday, November 7th 8 AM – 1 PM at the Vinton Skate & Activity Center
Get a jump on that Christmas shopping (and maybe an item or two for yourself) at the annual Fall Craft & Bake Sale.
This year we’ve got a record number of vendors (30 to be exact) and the variety of items that will be available are staggering!
We will have everything from home-spun handicrafts to jewelry to household cleaning products to delicious baked goods and absolutely everything in between.
Bubblegum Bingo November 14th
Saturday, November 14 4-6 PM at the Vinton Skate & Activity Center.
Kids in grades 1st through 5th are invited to join us for pizza, pop, contests, bingo, prizes, a ton of fun and, oh yeah, lots and lots of bubblegum!
The cost is only $10 per participant and the deadline to register is Wednesday, November 11.
